“Welcome to my world. Won’t you come on in?” Do you remember the late Jim Reeves singing those words? May I borrow those words to welcome every visitor to the SABC website. We love having the opportunity to show and tell about Southern Africa Bible College.
We live in a world where sin goes on unabated. The Apostle Paul recognized that same condition in his day over two thousand years ago, Galatians 1:4. In the aftermath of unrestrained immorality, the people of Southern Africa are ravaged by AIDS. The middle generation has almost entirely disappeared. Children are left as orphans. Aging grandparents have to fill the breech to care for the little victims. Some are left on the streets to die or become vagabonds. Sin hurts. Sin destroys. Many other sins are committed by the local people who don’t know any better. They don’t know Jesus or His church. The message of salvation hasn’t come to them yet. They don’t know that “the wages of sin is death,” Romans 6:23.
This is precisely the reason why Southern Africa Bible College was established. A hand full of foreign missionaries could never reach all the lost of the land without training many local disciples to preach the gospel to them, 2 Timothy 2:2. God has granted us a place and a time for getting dedicated people trained to serve in the Kingdom of God.
The place is Southern Africa Bible College in Benoni. The time is now.
All we need now are committed people who will answer the call to serve—to become, first, students of the Word and then ambassadors to the lost. We need students to enroll. We need brethren to partner with us in supporting those who wish to serve God in this capacity. It has well been said, “Those who can’t go, can send!” Some will answer the call with their lives and some will answer the call with their helpful resources. All can help with their prayers.
We invite everyone to take a virtual journey around SABC on this website. Meet the staff. Enter the buildings. Discourse with the students. Read the writings of the faculty. Note the curriculum. Decide where YOU fit in and then take your stand with us. We have a great war going on against sin. SABC is there to train the soldiers of the cross to push back the frontiers of evil and wickedness. Spiritual poverty, ignorance and disease can only be defeated by Jesus. We are his hands, his feet, and his mouth today.
Let us be what He wants us to be. That’s the only way the world will ever be a better place. Keep Southern Africa Bible College in your prayers—that task is enormous and the strength comes from above.
Al. J. Horne, president
